Abhishek Sharma's T20 World Cup 2026 campaign has gone from bad to worse as the southpaw registered his third consecutive duck of the tournament. Notably, on Wednesday, February 18, India locked horns against Netherlands, where they got off to the worst possible start courtesy Sharma's dismissal.

Notably, Abhishek, who was yet to score a single run in the ongoing edition, was already under pressure, which is when Netherlands brought Aryan Dutt to attack, who castled Sharma's furniture on the 3rd ball of the first over.

For the unversed, Abhishek walked to bat against Netherlands wearing Mohammed Siraj's jersey. The fans assumed that the southpaw donned Miyan's kit for a change of luck and fortune. However, it was not the case as the real reason has now been revealed.

The commentatators stated that Abhishek left his jersey in the hotel room and by the time he was about to bat, the time was up to go back and bring his kit. The umpires were in the middle and Sharma grabbed Siraj's jersey, which is why he walked in wearing the seamer's India kit.

"Some late t-shirt trouble for Abhishek Sharma. He asked someone to get him a new upper but by the time a player could go up and come down the long staircase, it was too late. The opener walks out wearing Mohammed Siraj's jersey now," remarked Sahil Malhotra from TOI.
