In a siginificant development, Glenn Maxwell has joined Pakistan Super League for 2026 edition. The Australia all-rounder has been roped in by new franchise Hyderabad Kingsmen as their direct signing for the upcoming season.
The newly added team took to social media to confirm the same and added that Glenn Maxwell's decision has come months after he pulled his name out of IPL 2026 auction.
Glenn Maxwell To Make PSL Debut Amid Concerning form
The 37-year-old will make his PSL debut this year and has joined a list of international cricketers, who have switched to the Pakistan Super League from IPL for the upcoming edition.
Notably, the likes of David Warner, Kane Williamson, Faf Du Plessis, and Moeen Ali also pulled out of IPL and moved to PSL. The players are in the business end of their careers, which is why they anticipated about going unsold in IPL, which is why they moved to PSL.
For the unversed, in December 2025, Glenn Maxwell put a tweet stating that he won't be participating in IPL 2026 auction.
“After many unforgettable seasons in the IPL, I’ve decided not to put my name into the auction this year. It’s a big call, and one I make with a lot of gratitude for everything this league has given me. The IPL has helped shape me as a cricketer and as a person. I’ve been lucky to play with world-class teammates, represent incredible franchises, and perform in front of fans whose passion is unmatched. The memories, the challenges, and the energy of India will stay with me forever," Maxwell wrote in his tweet.
Glenn Maxwell's recent move has come amid a dipping form in international cricket. The star all-rounder has struggled in the the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026, where he has scored just 62 runs in three innings, averaging just 20.67.

Glenn Maxwell's Salary for PSL 2026
Glenn Maxwell's PSL 2026 salary has not ben officially out, but since he is a direct signing, there are reports that the star all-rounder might earn around ₹1.47 crore (PKR 4.5 crore or ~USD 160,000), typical for Platinum category players.
Comparing Glenn Maxwell's IPL salary, then the Punjab Kings player earned 4.20 crores for the Kings during 2025 edition. It is three times more than what he will now earn for Hyderabad Kingsmen during PSL 2026.
