The Pakistan Super League 2026 season is yet to commence, and already controversies have erupted, this time involving the newest team in the league, Sialkot Stallionz. The franchise is acquired by a consortium featuring Alpha Sports (76%) and OZ Developers (24%), but it seems the owners are having disputes amongst themselves.

Mohammad Shahid, owner of the Sialkot franchise, holds 76% shares in the team, and in a video that has gone viral recently, he has accused his partner, Hamza Majeed (who owns 24%) of selling additional shares without authorization.

Shahid has already informed the PSL management about the suspicious activity and will take legal action against his partner if the matter is not resolved.

Who owns the Stallionz and how the team was formed

The Alpha Sports Group is owned mainly by Mohammad Shahid, and his company is Australia’s largest wholesale distributor of sports medicine physiotheraphy, injury-prevention, and first-aid products.

The Sialkot Stallionz was initially acquired by the OZ Developers for a record-bid of 1.85 billion, and they became the most expensive franchise in PSL history. The OZ Developers is owned by Hamza Majeed and Kamil Khan, and they sold 76% of the stake to Mohammad Shahid as the two firms desired to take the team forward with their visions.

PSL sold two new franchises via auction

Since the league’s inception, PSL had six teams, and the PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, desired to have two new franchises for the 2026 season. The league was getting stale, and the introduction of the two new sides created a different excitement.

On January 9, 2026, the PSL conducted an auction to sell two new sides, and after an intense bidding war, the OZ Developers got their hands on the Sialkot franchise, and the FKS Group from the USA acquired the Hyderabad team after a successful bid of PKR 1.75 billion.

Will PSL punish the owners?

Mohammad Shahid, the majority owner in the Sialkot franchise, is yet to file an official complaint against the minority owner. The PSL management has been informed about the activities, and if Hamza Majeed is found guilty, the governing body of the tournament could take strict actions against him.

The OZ Developers owner could be barred from the league, and his 24% stake could be sold to Shahid, who owns 76% in the team.

Players bought by Sialkot in PSL mega auction

Mohammad Nawaz (PKR 6.16 cr), Salman Mirza (PKR 3.92 cr), Ahmed Daniyal (PKR 2.24 cr), Saad Masood (PKR 84 lakh), Steve Smith (PKR 14 cr), Jahanzaib Sultan (PKR 60 lakh), Sahibzada Farhan (PKR 5.70 cr), Ashton Turner (PKR 4.20 cr), Peter Siddle (PKR 2.50 cr), Tabraiz Shamsi (PKR 2.20 cr), Lachlan Shaw (PKR 60 lakh), and Delano Potgieter (PKR 60 lakh).

  • The team bought a plethora of players in the PSL mega auction, and there were some shrewd signings as well. The franchise bought Australian batter, Steve Smith, for a whopping PKR 14 crore, and he became the costliest signing of the league.
  • Pakistan duo of Mohammad Nawaz and Salman Mirza were also bought by the team as they invested in quality players.
