One of the members from Delhi Capitals (DC), that too an Indian, decided to join an English side for an upcoming competition in England. In fact, he was among the regulars more often than not when DC were in action during IPL 2026.

The GMR Group, which co-owns Delhi Capitals, has also bought the English county side Hampshire. They will be in action during the England Domestic One Day Cup 2026, which will get underway on July 21 and will finish on September 20.

The Delhi Capitals star will be in action during the tournament.

Hampshire Sign Ashutosh Sharma For One Day Cup

Ashutosh Sharma, who has played 32 IPL matches for since making his debut in 2024 for Punjab Kings, will play for Hampshire in the England Domestic One Day Cup 2026. He joined Delhi Capitals before IPL 2025.

Ashutosh, who holds the record for the fastest Indian to get a half-century in T20s, having made it in just 11 balls while playing Railways against Arunachal Pradesh in 2023 during Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, will now be playing for the English county side.

"Hampshire Cricket has signed Indian all-rounder Ashutosh Sharma for the men’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup," an official statement read.

Ashutosh had a strike rate of 181.91, having scored 171 runs in eight matches. In fact, he had a strike rate of 160 or more in all three IPL seasons.

Ashutosh Sharma List A Numbers

Ashutosh, now aged 27, will play England in the 50-over format. Even though he has outstanding numbers in the T20s, his List A records are not so great yet.

After 21 List A matches, Ashutosh averages 24.10, having made 458 runs at a strike rate of 131.60. In 2019, he made his List A debut for Madhya Pradesh. Needless to say, he would be keen to improve his numbers in England during the England Domestic One Day Cup 2026.

Yuzvendra Chahal Re-Signs For Northamptonshire

In another significant development, India’s veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will play for Northamptonshire once again. Chahal, who has represented the English county side before, will be available for selection for the second half of the 2026 season.

This means he will represent Northamptonshire in the One-Day Cup and County Championship competitions.

“I am so excited to carry on my journey with Northamptonshire. It feels like home to me and I love playing my cricket here. We have a great squad, and I am excited to push for more success next year,” Chahal said in a statement.

“For young spinners in the group like Nirvan Ramesh and Stuart van der Merwe, having Yuzi around to guide them will be a huge plus for their game,” Northamptonshire head coach Darren Lehmann added with sheer delight.

Over two County Championship seasons, Chahal has picked up 31 wickets in England.
