In a significant development, the Chennai Super Kings are all set to begin preparations for IPL 2026 from February 28. The stage is all set, and the players are also arriving from various states in Chennai for the upcoming edition of the cash-studded league. In the latest events, CSK’s rising star Urvil Patel posted an update that he has departed for Tamil Nadu.
Patel took to Instagram, where he shared a story with his parents and CSK kitbag. He captioned the post ‘See You Soon @CSK’. For the unversed, the five-time IPL winners roped in Patel at a base price of 30 lakhs in 2025 auction. He featured in three games for the Super Kings and amassed 68 runs.
CSK To Start Pre-IPL training camp on February 28
IPL 2026 is set to begin on March 28 or 29, and the Kings have a month to look after their newly recruited players and ensure their fitness. Notably, the five-time winners are set to hold a 10-day training camp starting from February 28.
Kartik Sharma, Prashant Veer, Urvil Patel and the legend MS Dhoni are all expected to be part of the 10-day camp at the CSK High-Performance Centre in Navalur.
“It is at the High Performance Centre. We are planning for about 10 days. Indian players, whoever is available, are coming. Dhoni is also participating. Usual practice,” CSK CEO, he said over a phone call to Sportstar.

Notably, Chennai Super Kings finished 10th in IPL 2025, their worst-ever finish in the history of the cash-studded league.
CSK Hit With Injuries Before IPL 2026
Before the start of IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings are dealing with a couple of injury concerns. Notably, they spent 28.40 crores on Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer. However, both the youngsters are currently nursing injuries.s
Notably, Kartik picked up a back injury during local tournament in Rajasthan. Since it was a local tournament, there is no confirmation whether Kartik returned to the pavilion or continued batting after treatment.
For the unversed, CSK's 14.20 crore Prashant Veer suffered a grade 2 shoulder tear during Uttar Pradesh vs Jharkhand Ranji Trophy match in January. He was most likely to be out for four weeks, and has not played a single game of cricket since his injury. At present, the exact nature of their injuries is not confirmed and return date is yet to be revealed.
