Jacob Bethell has been ruled out of the upcoming Hundred 2026 season. Cricket Australia has named a strong squad for the home Test series against Bangladesh.

Jacob Bethell out of Hundred 2026 for Birmingham Phoenix

England all-rounder Jacob Bethell has been ruled out of The Hundred 2026 season. The 22-year-old has sustained a knee injury, and is also doubtful to play England’s home Test series against Pakistan next month.

The cricketer recently underwent an MRI scan, and will soon begin his rehabilitation. Bethell was slated to lead the Birmingham Phoenix franchise after starring in England’s series wins over India at home.

Pat Cummins, Hazlewood return in Australia squad for BAN Tests

Cricket Australia has announced a strong 13-player Australia squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home. Regular captain Pat Cummins and fellow legendary paceman Josh Hazlewood are making their respective returns to the Australian Test line-up, which also comprises of several other star attractions like Steve Smith, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head. 

The series will be played between August 13 and August 26 in Darwin and Mackay next month. 

Washington Sundar doubtful for Sri Lanka tour

The BCCI will likely name Team India squad for next month’s two-match Test tour of Sri Lanka later this week itself. However, the selection committee is still waiting to receive clarity for star all-rounder Washington Sundar.

It is worth noting that Sundar recently suffered an injury during India’s three-match ODI series in England. After punching out a sizzling match-winning fifty, the cricketer was forced to miss the decider at Lord’s in London. 

T Dilip fuels exit speculation, did not travelled to Zimbabwe

T Dilip might well have made his exit as Team India fielding coach, as per several reports. The report specifically states that Dilip did not travel to Zimbabwe along with the Indian cricket team. Another contract extension will likely not happen for the esteemed coach.

Notably, during Dilip’s tenure, Team India witnessed a steady improvement in fielding, as evidenced by their match-winning catching especially during their 2024 ICC T20 World Cup win. 

Tilak Varma breaks silence over strike rate criticism

Tilak Varma has finally addressed the strike rate criticism levied against him by several Indian cricket fans off late. The Indian vice-captain defended his batting style by saying that he plays according to the situation and the requirements of the team. 

Not long ago, Varma bludgeoned a fiery 25-ball 53 against England in India’s series-deciding third T20I match at the iconic Lord’s in London. He is currently in Zimbabwe for a series against the hosts.
