3 Surprises India Can Throw At Zimbabwe In The Coming Tour

After the facing embarrassing results in Ireland and England, the T20 Champions India will try their luck at Zimbabwe in the three-match series, under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.

For these three T20Is, the BCCI has picked a squad with a perfect balance of youth and experience. 

Shreyas will have the backing of his core batters such as Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan and Shivam Dube. 

Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi are included to make up for the mistakes made in the UK. However, these aren’t the only young bowlers in the squad, as speedsters like Mayank Yadav and Ashok Sharma are also named. 

In this article, we will analyse three cricketers whom India can throw at Zimbabwe in the three-match T20I series. 

3 Indians who can destroy Zimbabwe

Prabhsimran Singh

Although the IND vs ZIM T20I series isn’t the maiden call-up for Prabhsimran Singh, it is not any else for the Punjab wicketkeeper, who was last picked for India during the Asian Games 2023. 

The swashbuckler has had an impressive run, especially in the last two years for Punjab Kings, leading to his selection in the Indian team.

Prabhsimran is a backup to Ishan Kishan in this squad, but with three left-handers in India’s top three, the right-handed hard-hitter may get his maiden India cap at Harare. 

Thus, don’t be surprised if India surprise Zimbabwe with Prabhsimran Singh in the batting order.

Ashok Sharma

The 24-year-old Ashok Sharma set the centre stage on fire in the IPL 2026, playing for the Gujarat Titans. The speedster never backs away from firing thunderbolts at 150 kmph, and what makes him special is not erratic pace but a blend of accuracy and rawness. 

During his maiden IPL stints, the Rajasthan speedster showed that he is poetry in motion, who can also turn into a thunderstorm against any batting attack. He isn't someone who has risen from the IPL; he has put in hard yards in domestic cricket as well.

Although the Indian team management has also picked Mayank Yadav, along with Ashok, for the IND vs ZIM T20Is, the Rajasthan seamer will come as a surprise package for the home team. 

Harsh Dubey

In what little we have seen, Harsh Dubey has turned up as an all-rounder who can win the team matches with his left-arm spin and can bat sensibly in whatever situation he is in. Recently, he made his India debut in the 50-over format, and he is in line to don India’s T20I shirt as well. 

Dubey is picked in the Indian squad for the Zimbabwe series as a sole spinning all-rounder, which means he would play at number 7 or 8 according to the situation. 

Although the Zimbabwean conditions would be alien to the 23-year-old, he will certainly get up some of the Zimbabwean batters’ noses. Plus, he will settle in perfectly with India’s mantra of batting deep down the order.
