In a significant development, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has dropped a massive update on India’s potential tour to Bangladesh for a white-ball series. For the unversed, the Men in Blue were supposed to visit the neighbouring country for a 3-match T20I and ODI series in August 2025, but the tour was postponed.

Due to the escalating geopolitical tensions between the two countries, the BCCI decided to postpone the series to September 2026. However, the new BCB members have expressed interest in hosting India and are doing everything possible from their side to convince the BCCI.

BCCI Yet To Confirm India’s Visit To BCB

Ibrahim, the son of Bangladesh's present home minister, Salahuddin Ahmed, speaking to Cricbuzz, stated that they are leaving no stone unturned to convince the BCCI that Bangladesh can host India for a six-match white-ball series.

The BCB has also sent a plan to the BCCI, but the apex cricket board of India is yet to respond, which casts doubt on whether the series will be played in September.

"There has been no such positive message yet (with the BCCI), and we are still working out the details of the tour. We are trying to establish communication through our formal channels because the tour is coming up very soon," he stated.

One of the major roadblocks for the series to go forward is the security and safety of players. For the unversed, the situation tensed between the two countries when a Hindu man, Dipu Das, was set on fire in Bangladesh.

BCB On Increasing Security For India’s Visit

"Security is always a concern for every touring side, especially for the major cricketing nations. We have not yet formally started communication with them (BCCI). We are hopeful there will be no complaints if the tour takes place as planned," Ibrahim told reporters in Dhaka on Tuesday.

"We always try to organise our events in a controlled environment and ensure the highest standards of security. We will continue to do that.It (security measures) will depend on the situation (during the India series), and if required we will enhance the security," he said.

BCB Announce Venues For Asia Cup 2027

Interestingly, while there is uncertainty over India’s visit to Bangladesh for a bilateral series, there is a bigger issue to deal with. Notably, the 2027 Asia Cup will be hosted by Bangladesh, and the Men in Blue are the defending champions.

A couple of days ago, the BCB released the dates and announced that the prestigious fifty-over event will run from June 18 to July 4, 2027.

In the latest developments, the board has also shortlisted three venues to host the continental Cup. Notably, Mirpur, Chattogram and Sylhet have been considered as the three venues for the Asia Cup 2027.

We have been contacted, and they (ACC) have asked us for detailed information about the three proposed venues. We hope to formalise the matter within the next few days," said Ibrahim.
