The Bangladesh Cricket Board has introduced a special arrangement for the upcoming home Test series against the West Indies, giving local cricket enthusiasts an opportunity to experience international red-ball cricket without paying for tickets.

With the opening match approaching, the move is aimed at encouraging greater attendance at the stadium and creating a lively atmosphere for the contest. The initiative will cover specific sections of the venue, while access to premium seating areas will remain restricted to ticket holders.

BCB opens selected galleries for free during Bangladesh vs West Indies Test

The BCB announced on Friday that spectators can watch the first Test between Bangladesh and the West Indies free of charge from designated galleries at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

The facility will remain available throughout all five days of the opening Test, which begins on October 28. Fans will be able to enter the North and South galleries without purchasing tickets, providing an opportunity for more supporters to witness the international contest from the stands.

However, the free-entry arrangement will not extend to every section of the stadium. The Grand Stand, Shaheed Jewel Stand and Shaheed Mushtaque Stand, along with other VIP and hospitality areas, will remain excluded from the initiative.

The decision continues Bangladesh's efforts to attract spectators to Test cricket, a format that often requires sustained audience interest across several days.

Notably, Bangladesh has previously used complimentary stadium access to encourage younger audiences to attend international cricket. During the Test series against Pakistan in May 2026, school students wearing uniforms and cricket academy trainees aged under 15 were granted free entry to selected galleries.

West Indies begin Bangladesh tour ahead of two-Test WTC series

The West Indies arrived in Bangladesh earlier this week and are currently playing a two-day warm-up fixture against a Bangladesh Cricket Board XI in Mirpur.

The preparatory match gives the touring side an opportunity to adjust to local conditions before the opening Test gets underway.

The first match will begin on October 28 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, while the second Test is scheduled to start on November 5 in Sylhet.

Both fixtures form part of the World Test Championship (WTC), making the series important for the two sides' campaigns in the competition.
