Why is Bangladesh fielding domestic players for warm-up match?
Bangladesh regularly uses BCB XI fixtures during home series to give domestic performers and fringe players a chance to face visiting international teams. These squads often include standout performers from competitions such as the National Cricket League, alongside emerging prospects who can benefit from the experience.
The approach also gives the selectors an opportunity to assess local talent against international opposition. The upcoming fixture against West Indies follows this development-focused approach, with selected players getting an opportunity to make an impression before the two-Test series begins on October 28.
The opening Test will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, with play scheduled to start at 9:30 AM Bangladesh time. The second Test is set to begin on November 5, completing the visitors' two-match assignment in Bangladesh.
