In a significant development, Peshawar Zalmi made an important announcement on Monday. The franchise confirmed that Bangladesh left-arm fast bowler Shoriful Islam will join the team for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026). The tournament is scheduled to take place from March 26 to May 3.
The team shared the news on its official social media pages. They posted an animated picture showing Shoriful Islam wearing the Peshawar Zalmi jersey. In the image, he was sitting on a decorative throne beside Bengal Tigers, which represent his Bangladeshi roots.
Shoriful Islam joins fellow Bangladesh player
Notably, Shoriful Islam will now play alongside another Bangladesh fast bowler, Nahid Rana and Babar Azam in the Peshawar Zalmi squad. With this addition, the team hopes to strengthen their squad for the new PSL season.
It is worth mentioning that Shoriful Islam has been a regular member of the Bangladesh since his international debut in 2021.
Since then, Islam has represented Bangladesh in all three formats of the game. Islam has played 14 Tests, 40 ODIs, and 59 T20Is. Through these appearances, he has gained valuable experience at the international level.

In addition to international cricket, Shoriful has played many matches in domestic and franchise T20 leagues. So far, he has appeared in 156 T20 matches. During these games, he has taken 195 wickets.
His bowling average stands at 22.27, while his economy rate is 8.22. These numbers show that he is capable of taking wickets while keeping the run rate under control.
Shoriful Islam enjoyed excellent form in BPL
Recently, Shoriful Islam enjoyed excellent form in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2025-26). The latest edition of the tournament ended in late January, and Shoriful finished as the highest wicket-taker of the season.
Notably, he played for Chattogram Royals, where he delivered impressive bowling performances throughout the competition. In total, he claimed 26 wickets, which is the highest number of wickets taken by any player in a single BPL season.
Even though Shoriful delivered strong performances recently, he was not selected during the PSL’s first-ever auction held last month. During that auction, several other Bangladeshi players were picked by teams. These players included Nahid Rana, Parvez Hossain Emon, Rishad Hossain, and Mustafizur Rahman.
Peshawar Zalmi strengthen squad for PSL 2026
Later, Peshawar Zalmi decided to bring Shoriful Islam into their squad through a direct signing. The upcoming season will mark Shoriful Islam’s first appearance in the Pakistan Super League.
In addition, Peshawar Zalmi also signed young left-arm seamer Muhammad Basit earlier the same day. Through these additions, the 2017 PSL champions are working to build a strong team for the new season.
The PSL 11 tournament will feature eight teams and matches will be played across six venues in Pakistan for the first time. Peshawar Zalmi will begin their campaign on March 28. Their first match will be against Pindiz at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium.
