Australia are preparing to tour Pakistan for an upcoming three-match ODI series later this month. The matches will take place in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Even though CA has not officially announced the Australia squad for Pakistan yet, several reports have revealed the names of players who are expected to travel for the series.
Notably, a few of Australia’s biggest stars are expected to miss the ODI series against Pakistan. These players include Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Travis Head. Their IPL teams are currently fighting for playoff spots, therefore CA has allowed them to complete their IPL commitments first.
Young Australian Talent Set For Big Opportunity
As a result, some of these players could also miss the following series in Bangladesh. This situation has forced the Aussies to look at younger and less experienced players for the upcoming tour.
One of the biggest talking points is the expected selection of young batter Ollie Peake. The left-handed batter is likely to become the youngest batter to play ODI cricket for Australia in recent years.
Notably, Peake has already been closely monitored by Australian selectors. Last year, he travelled to Sri Lanka as a training player before making his first-class debut. In addition, he has also represented AUS A in several series.
Australia Set To Recall Experienced Players For Pakistan Tour
Australia are also expected to bring back several players for the tour. Left-arm fast bowler Billy Stanlake could return to the national side after more than six years away from international cricket.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Liam Scott is another uncapped player who may receive an opportunity after an excellent domestic season for South Australia. Fast bowler Riley Meredith, leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha and all-rounder Aaron Hardie are also expected to return to the Australia squad for Pakistan.
Notably, Hardie recently impressed in the PSL 2026 while playing for Peshawar Zalmi. Notably, he scored 133 runs in 6 innings with a strike rate of 148.44 and an average of 44.33. His performances have strengthened his chances of returning to AUS's T20 plans.
In addition, players such as Ben Dwarshuis and Matt Kuhnemann are likely to be part of the tour at different stages.
After the ODI series against Pakistan, Men in Yellow will head to Bangladesh for another white-ball series featuring three ODIs and three T20 matches. The full tour will continue for 23 days, with the first ODI scheduled to begin in Rawalpindi on May 30.
Australia Eye Fresh T20 Rebuild Ahead of Future Challenges
Meanwhile, the Aussies are expected to make several changes to their T20 squad following their disappointing early exit from the recent ICC Men's T20 World Cup. As a result, the selectors are focusing on building a fresh and stronger squad for the future.
In addition, selectors are closely monitoring players like Nikhil Chaudhary and Joel Davies, who have delivered impressive performances in domestic cricket and also attended CA training camps.
With the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup set to take place next year, the upcoming series will provide both Men in Yellow and Pakistan with an important opportunity to test new player combinations and gain momentum in the 50-over format.
