The official draw of cricket at the 2026 Asian Games has been mapped out. The plan was laid out in Nagoya on Thursday, July 23, i.e., roughly a couple of months before the cricketing event in Japan.
As one can expect, the men's and women's teams of India and Pakistan have earned a direct place in the quarter-finals. For the men’s event, however, six additional nations will compete in a preliminary round to book four quarter-final slots.

What happened in previous cricket event of Asian Games
Back in late 2023, Hangzhou in China hosted the 2022 edition of the Asian Games. Both Indian cricket teams clinched the Gold Medal at the men’s and women’s events.
At the time, the India Men’s team was relatively an inexperienced one, with CSK star Ruturaj Gaikwad serving the side as captain. Following a no-result final against Afghanistan, the ‘Men in Blue’ were handed the gold while Afghans walked away with a silver.
Bangladesh men’s team, meanwhile, lifted the bronze medal on the winner’s podium.
The India Women’s team, under Harmanpreet Kaur, crushed runners-up and silver medal winners Sri Lanka in a low-scoring final to clinch the gold in Hangzhou. Much like the men’s team, Bangladesh also won the bronze medal at the women’s event.
Surprisingly, Pakistan cricket teams finished fourth in each segment.
