Finally, the wait for Arjun Tendulkar was over, and his patience paid off after he was included in Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) playing XI against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday, May 23.
While the left-arm pacer impressed with the ball on debut, an incident involving teammate Abdul Samad in the final over of LSG's innings became one of the biggest talking points of the LSG vs PBKS match.
After warming the bench for 13 games, Arjun finally earned a place in the playing XI. The star all-rounder continued working hard during LSG training sessions, and his dedication was finally recognised by the LSG management.
How was Arjun Tendulkar's performance in 1st match for LSG?
Arjun Tendulkar delivered a decent performance in his first outing for Lucknow. Bowling his full quota of four overs, the youngster finished with figures of 1/36 in a high-scoring contest.
His biggest moment came when he dismissed Prabhsimran Singh with a sharp yorker after the Punjab opener had smashed 69 runs off just 39 balls.
Though slightly expensive, Arjun showed confidence with the ball and looked composed under pressure. Before bowling, he also got a brief chance to bat lower down the order.

Earlier, LSG posted 196/6 in 20 overs thanks to a brilliant 72-run knock from Josh Inglis. He stitched together important partnerships with Ayush Badoni and captain Rishabh Pant. Abdul Samad also played a quick cameo towards the end to push the total close to the 200-run mark.
PBKS keep their playoff hopes alive
Punjab Kings produced a dominant batting display to chase down the 197-run target. Captain Shreyas Iyer led from the front with a sensational unbeaten 101 off 51 balls, registering his maiden IPL century.
After early wickets from Mohammed Shami gave LSG some hope, Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer completely shifted the momentum with a massive 140-run partnership for the third wicket.
Arjun eventually broke the partnership by removing Prabhsimran, but Shreyas remained unbeaten till the end and guided Punjab to an important victory that kept their playoff qualification hopes alive.
Arjun Tendulkar insulted by Abdul Samad?
The biggest moment of the LSG vs PBKS match came during the final over of Lucknow's innings. Abdul Samad was on strike against Arshdeep Singh, while Arjun stood at the non-striker's end desperately waiting for a chance to face a ball.
However, Samad repeatedly denied singles despite failing to score on the first three deliveries of the over. Even when easy singles were available, he refused to rotate strike and kept Arjun away from facing the final over on his IPL debut for LSG.
The incident quickly became a major topic of discussion among fans on social media.

Conclusion (Sakshi's Opinion)
In my opinion, Arjun Tendulkar showed maturity and patience during his debut match for LSG.
What impressed me the most was his disciplined bowling. He did not try to do too much and focused on maintaining a good line and length. Apart from bowling, his ability to contribute as an all-rounder adds extra value to the team.
I believe Arjun Tendulkar deserved more opportunities in IPL 2026 because players improve only when they are trusted with regular chances.
