The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled a huge India A Women ensemble for their upcoming all-format home series against Australia A Women. On Thursday, August 27, the women’s selection committee confirmed three separate squads, one each for the three different forms of the game.
It is worth noting that the India A Women’s team is set to host their Australian counterparts between September 12 and October 2 in a series of three T20s, three One-Day games and one four-day first-class match.
While Yastika Bhatia has been appointed as captain of the 50-overs and multi-day fixtures, young all-rounder Anushka Sharma will lead the side in the three-match T20 series.
BCCI name 27 different players in three separate squads
The BCCI has assembled a pool of 27 cricketers set to feature in India A Women squads for the upcoming all-format home series against Australia A Women.

Those 27 players are spread across three separate 15-member squads, with as many as eight players finding themselves featuring in all three formats, ensuring a strong mix of continuity and format-specific options.
The eight common players are Anushka Sharma, Sayali Satghare, Tejal Hasabnis, Nikki Prasad, Uma Chetry, Vaishnavi Sharma, Jintimani Kalita and Shabnam Shakeel.
Here is a look at each of the three India A Women squads as assembled by the BCCI women’s selection committee.
India A squad for T20s: Anushka Sharma (c), Sayali Satghare (vc), Vrinda Dinesh, Sujata Dey, Tejal Hasabnis, Nikki Prasad, Shipra Giri (wk), Shweta Sehrawat, Uma Chetry (WK), Tanuja Kanwer, Minnu Mani, Vaishnavi Sharma, Jintimani Kalita, Shabnam Shakeel and Simran Dil Bahadur.
India A squad for One-Day matches: Yastika Bhatia (c) (wk), Anushka Sharma (vc), Vrinda Dinesh, Priya Punia, Tanisha Singh, Tejal Hasabnis, Nikki Prasad, Uma Chetry (WK), Minnu Mani, Amandeep Kaur, Vaishnavi Sharma, Sayali Satghare, Jintimani Kalita, Shabnam Shakeel and Akshita Bhagat.
India A squad for the Multi-Day match: Yastika Bhatia (c) (wk), Anushka Sharma (vc), Shubha Satheesh, Priya Punia, Tanisha Singh, Tejal Hasabnis, Nikki Prasad, Mamata Madiwala (WK), Sushree Dibyadarshini, Shuchi Upadhyay, Vaishnavi Sharma, Sayali Satghare, Jintimani Kalita, Shabnam Shakeel and Akshita Bhagat.
Anushka Sharma and Yastika Bhatia to lead teams
Spin-bowling all-rounder Anushka Sharma will lead the India A Women squad in the three-match T20 series. The 23-year-old has also been named as vice-captain of the team for the One-Day and multi-day fixtures.
It is worth noting that Anushka holds a formidable track record for the Madhya Pradesh Women’s team in domestic cricket, and she has also played a handful of WPL games for the Gujarat Giants franchise. The youngster made her international debut earlier this year during a T20I series in South Africa.
Yastika Bhatia, on the other hand, will lead the One-Day and multi-day India A Women sides. The 25-year-old is one of the seniormost members picked in the 27-player ensemble, as she has previously played four Tests, 28 ODIs and 26 T20 internationals for the India Women’s team.
India A Women to host Australia in September
India A Women will take on Australia in three T20 matches between September 12 and September 17 next month. All three matches will be hosted by New Chandigarh.
The series will be followed by three One-Day games between September 20 and September 25, set to be hosted by the PCA Stadium in Mohali.
The two sides will then travel to the scenic Dharamshala for the one-off four-day fixture between September 29 and October 2.
