Amit Mishra played 22 Tests, 36 ODIs, and 10 T20Is for India. The dominance of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, followed by the emergence of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, did not allow him to play continuously for India across formats.
While recalling his days, Mishra revealed that it was Virat Kohli, the then captain, who did not fulfil his promise while accusing him of not getting the deserved closure.
Amit Mishra Reveals Virat Kohli Ignored His Calls
During Aakash Chopra’s show Baith & Bol Episode 009’s trailer, Amit Mishra spoke about what happened to him when he kept on playing for India across all three formats, but then vanished all of a sudden.
Between October 2016 and February 2017, Mishra played in all three formats for India. But then, he never returned.
There, Mishra told Chopra that Anil Kumble was India’s head coach back then, and he assured him that Mishra would get back into the mix once he recovered from injury.
Besides, Mishra revealed that he went to Kohli as well for the same query. Kohli told him not to worry and promised he would call Mishra within 8-10 days.
From then on, Mishra did not get any call, and Kohli did not receive his calls either.

How Did Amit Mishra Fare For India?
In particular, Mishra was impressive in T20Is, a format in which he had an average of 16 and an economy rate of 6.31, with 16 wickets in 10 matches under any captain.
In ODIs, he had 64 wickets in 34 innings at an economy rate of 4.7, while he had below-par numbers in Tests, averaging 35.72 for 76 wickets.
Not to forget, Mishra, one of IPL's all-time heroes, has three hat-tricks in the competition, a record which he still holds alone. More significantly, he did that for three different franchises: one for Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) in 2008, one for Deccan Chargers in 2011, and the last one for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013.
