Amidst the dominance of batters in the IPL, it has always been a challenging task for bowlers to establish themselves as highlights of the tournament across different editions. Meanwhile, some bowlers have excelled in the Indian Premier League over the years, courtesy of their brilliant bowling. 

They have placed themselves in the centre of a lot of all-time memories in the tournament’s history, be it the hat-tricks or the match-winning spells in the must-win games. Hence, here’s a look at the five bowlers with the most four-fers in IPL history. 

5 Bowlers with most 4-fers in IPL history

Yuzvendra Chahal - 8

The veteran leg spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, will be in action for the Punjab Kings in the upcoming IPL 2026. He is currently the most successful bowler of all time in the tournament’s history, being the leading wicket-taker with 221 wickets in 172 innings. 

Besides that, Chahal has bagged eight four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul in these appearances. Having picked four wickets in an innings on eight occasions, Chahal is the leading bowler in the list of the bowlers with the most four-fers in IPL history. 

Interestingly, Chahal is one of the very few bowlers who have scalped two hat-tricks in IPL history. 

Sunil Narine - 7 

The veteran KKR off-spinner, Sunil Narine, has been one of the most impactful bowlers in the entire history of the tournament. In the last couple of years, he has also emerged as a prolific all-rounder, given his outstanding performances with the bat. 

Speaking of Narine’s bowling excellence, he has picked 192 wickets in 187 innings, including seven four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul. He is the second-highest wicket-taker of all time in IPL, alongside being placed in the same spot on the list of the bowlers with most four-fers in the tournament’s history. 

Lasith Malinga - 6 

The former Mumbai Indians legend, Lasith Malinga, is still the second-highest wicket-taker for his former IPL side, even after almost 7 years since his retirement from the IPL. Malinga picked 170 wickets in 122 innings at an average of 7.14, including six four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul. 

Malinga ended his IPL career as the most successful bowler for the Mumbai Indians at the time of his retirement. He ranks third in the list of bowlers with most four-fers in IPL history. 

Kagiso Rabada - 6 

The star Proteas pacer, Kagiso Rabada, will play for the Gujarat Titans in the upcoming IPL 2026. In the previous editions, he also played for the Delhi Capitals and the Punjab Kings. He has emerged as one of the lethal and wicket-taking bowlers in the tournament. 

In his 84-game IPL career, Rabada has claimed 119 wickets in 84 innings at an economy rate of 8.61, including six four-fers in IPL history. The Proteas speedster is fourth among the bowlers with the most four-wicket hauls in the tournament. 

Amit Mishra - 4 

The former leg-spin stalwart, Amit Mishra, is the only bowler in the entire IPL history who has claimed three hat-tricks in his IPL career. Besides that, Mishra ranks eighth among the leading wicket-takers of all time in the tournament’s history, with 174 wickets in 162 innings. 

In these appearances, Mishra claimed four five-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul. In terms of taking most four-fers, Amit Mishra is in the fifth spot on this list. However, he might be matched or surpassed by a few currently active bowlers, such as Harshal Patel and Ravindra Jadeja, in the upcoming IPL 2026
