After a series of boycott drama, the India-Pakistan clash took place on the big stage of the T20 World Cup 2026, but the Men in Green ended up extending their losing streak against the rivals. Even after the match ended, the controversy between Shadab Khan and veteran players refuses to die down.

The defeat led to veterans, questioning the team’s performance, while Shadab Khan’s derogatory remark sparked fresh controversy. Adding to the debate, former Pakistani batter Ahmed Shehzad slammed the all-rounder.

Pakistan rift deepens as Ahmed Shehzad criticizes Shadab Khan

Despite being cited as the biggest rivalry in cricket, the real spark of the India-Pakistan match has faded as the Men in Green’s struggle against their arch-rivals has been common. Across the formats, the story remained the same, and the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 was no exception.

After that heartbreaking defeat, Pakistani veteran stars questioned Pakistan’s performance. The situation escalated when Shadab Khan hit back with a shameful remark, and his derogatory comment drew heavy criticism from all sides.

Recently, veteran Pakistani batter Ahmed Shehzad fired back at the all-rounder. Speaking on a television show, he accused Shadab of enjoying unjustified favour, claiming he continues to receive backing despite repeated failures.

“First of all, you came in through the back door (Ek to aap chor raastey se aaye ho). You’re neither a performer nor a regular in domestic cricket. Despite not performing at all, you’re getting the backing. You didn’t even do rehabafter getting injured. They axed Hasan Ali from the central contracts, but not you. If that’s not favouritism, then I don’t know what is,” he said.

Shehzad explodes at Shadab Khan for disrespect towards seniors

Over the years, Pakistan’s forgettable performance against Team India has become a massive concern, and veteran players have repeatedly raised questions over it. Responding to the criticism, Shadab Khan sparked controversy by saying he was part of the team that beat India in an ICC event, something some former players could not achieve.

Reflecting on this, Ahmed Shehzad slammed Shadab Khan for the disrespectful comment. Reminding him of the greatness of Pakistan’s legends, he urged the all-rounder to show proper respect to his seniors.

“It doesn’t look good when you make such statements. And you’re comparing yourself with the team from the 90s? They had their issues and lost to India in World Cups, but they were far superior to you. Look at their performances; they dominated India during that period. Just because two former players criticized the team, you suddenly forgot the backing they gave you. So, learn to respect your seniors,” he added.

Mohammad Amir breaks silence with shocking advice for Shadab

Just not Ahmed Shehzad, former Pakistani player Mohammad Amir also weighed in to the debate as he came up with massive advice for Shadab Khan. Reflecting on the situation, he said criticism is part of a player’s career, and one should remain quiet and focus on improving when not performing well.

“If you’re on a tour, there will be criticism. So, You’ve got no right to say such things when you are tour. Even we used to get criticized during tours, but my focus was to shut those critics up with my performances. So, if you are not performing, you should keep quiet,” he said.

In the ongoing tournament, Shadab Khan failed to live up to his reputation as the team’s X-factor. In four group stage clashes, he scored just 88 runs and secured only five wickets. As Pakistan is set to face New Zealand in their first Super Eight clash, Shadab Khan’s performance will be under the scanner again.
