The 23-year-old Abishek Porel was arrested in West Bengal's Hooghly district over rape allegations on August 11.A report from ABP Ananda revealed that the court has finally granted bail to Abishek Porel after spending 36 days in Jail.Abishek Porel granted bail by Kolkata CourtAbishek Porel has been granted bail by the Chunchura court. However, he will have to wait for another day and will step out of the prison, which will be Friday. Notably, he was arrested on the allegations of sexual harassment on the pretext of marriage.Porel had publicly denied the accusations but the Dum Dum police station, under the Calcutta High Court's directive, arrested the cricketer. The left-handed batter has been granted bail in the 2nd attempt after getting rejected earlier.Previously, The Chunchura court on August 14, denied bail to Abishek Porel and sent the cricketer to 14 days of judicial custody after his three-day police remand ended.What Was The Reason behind Abishek Porel's Arrest?An anonymous women registered a complaint against him at Magra Police Station in West Bengal's Hooghly district. She has also alleged physical and mental abuse, threats and misuse of private photographs and videos.The matter subsequently reached the Calcutta High Court after the complainant raised concerns about the progress of the investigation. The High Court directed police to apprehend Abishek Porel and another accused.He was arrested under Sections 64(1), 66, 69, 74, 75(2), 79, 115(2), 117(2), 124(1), 127(2), 109, 308(2), 351(2), 351(3), 316(2), 318(3), 61(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 66E and 72 of the Information Technology Act, according to the police.Will Abishek Porel Be Allowed To Play IPL 2027?BCCI have a tricky situation ahead of them. The board faced a similar issue last season where Yash Dayal was at the centre. Unlike Porel, Dayal was not arrested by the police and eventually, RCB revelead that the player has pulled out of the season due to personal reasons but will continue to be part of the squad.For Abishek Porel, IPL 2027 is still several months away and if he manages to prove himself innocent, then the BCCI will allow him to take part in the upcoming edition of the cash-studded league.
