Saurabh Tiwary has dismissed all rumours of a possible venue change in India’s upcoming five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2027 Test series against Australia. The former Indian cricketer, who made his international debut under the leadership of MS Dhoni, refuted claims that the Gautam Gambhir-led Indian management had made such a request.
Tiwary is currently serving as the secretary of the Jharkhand Cricket State Association (JSCA). The JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, the planned venue for the fourth Test of the series, comes under the jurisdiction of the association.
Saurabh Tiwary confirms Ranchi as hosts of India vs Australia 4th Test
JSCA secretary Saurabh Tiwary has confirmed that the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi has not been dropped as the venue for the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2027 Test series between India and Australia next year.

Moreover, the former Indian cricketer also implied that no one else except for him has the authority to write to the BCCI about shifting any international match out of Ranchi.
While speaking with the reporters, the former teammate of MS Dhoni and Jharkhand cricket veteran said “There is no change in the venue. If anybody has to write to the BCCI about it, it should be me and I have not written it.”
Gautam Gambhir-led Indian management demanded venue change
Earlier, a report indicated that the Indian team management, led by head coach Gautam Gambhir, demanded that the India vs Australia 4th Test be moved out of Ranchi, which also happens to be the hometown of former Indian captain and legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni.
Abhishek Tripathi of the Jagran News even claimed that the BCCI might consider shifting the match out of Ranchi at the behest of the Gambhir-led management.
However, Saurabh Tiwary’s recent remarks clearly indicate that no such request was ever made from any support staff member of the Indian cricket team.
It is worth noting that early sunset in February in Jharkhand was likely considered as the primary reason behind Gambhir’s venue change request.
