7:18 PM IST | Arijit: So, despite a low score from the Morrisville Samp Army, it has been a gripping game from Qualifier 1 of the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022. New York Strikers led by Kieron Pollard scoots into the finals of the 6th edition and it was Akeal Hosein, the man who gleamed with the cherry, brought up the winning runs.
Kieron Pollard of the New York Strikers won the toss and elected to bowl first. Akeal Hosein was brought in the first over and he was on a hattrick then. He was superb and struck two-in-two removing Johnson Charles and Karim Janat. This came in like a jolt at the Samp Army and they failed to survive from it and ended their scoreboard on 81-9 after 10 overs. Dwaine Pretorius was the highest scorer for them with 15 runs from 11 balls and Moeen Ali just gave a brisk start in the first few overs.

Arriving for the chase Eoin Morgan took apart Sheldon Cottrell for two back-to-back sixes in the first over and gave a flying start to the New York Strikers. The wickets fell in the middle overs as Maheesh Theekshana and Karim Janat seemed to have made things trickier. Theekshana was stellar in removing Paul Stirling, Azam Khan, and Jordan Thompson in his two overs.
Chamika Karunaratne removed Kieron Pollard and it was Muhammed Waseem (36* of 16 balls) who counter-attacked in the middle phases and made use of the floating powerplay against the bowling of Karim Janat. With 6 runs needed from the last 2 overs, the equation emerged out to be too easy for the New York Strikers to pump themselves through to the Finals.
