It was a surprising decision from Kolkata Knight Riders to bat first under overcast conditions after winning the toss, and they were rocked early by Xavier Bartlett, who dismissed Finn Allen (6) and Cameron Green (4) in the second over of the innings. However, rain arrived at Eden Gardens and halted play for more than three hours. By the time it stopped, it was too late, as the ground had taken considerable damage and it wasn’t possible to get conditions ready in time for even a five-over shootout, with the cutoff being 11:14 PM IST. As a result, the umpires were forced to call off the game. Both teams walk away with a point each, although Punjab Kings will feel disappointed, having been in a strong position.
However, the action continues in IPL 2026. Tomorrow, that is on Tuesday, April 7, we have RR taking on MI in Guwahati. It’s time to wrap up this coverage as well, folks! We truly appreciate your patience in staying with us for all the updates. For now, it’s me, Deepak Prakash, signing off on behalf of my colleagues Ajay Pal Singh, Akshayakrishna Polya, and Paras Yadav. Cheers!
DID YOU KNOW? The last time these two faced at Eden Gardens in 2025, it was also a no-result.

Their facial expressions do not look positive. Iyer seems to be disappointed. And they shake hands. The match is abandoned. Both teams will get a point each. KKR, without a win, go over Gujarat Titans on the points table. They get off the mark in this season. PBKS remain unbeaten this season and leapfrog Royal Challengers Bengaluru to claim the top spot on the points table with five points.
