Bangladesh have a tough challenge ahead of them as the Tigers are all set to tour Australia for a two-match Test series starting on August 13. It will be the 1st time since 2003 that Bangladesh will travel Down Under for a Test series.

Australia have named a strong squad led by Pat Cummins. Bangladesh, on the other hand, are yet to name their 15-member squad. Notably, Bangladesh have a lot of selection headaches because of injuries and disciplinary issues.

Therefore, this article will shed light on Bangladesh players who will miss the Australia Tests.

1. Nahid Rana (Fast Bowler)

The biggest concern for Bangladesh is that they will be without their star bowler because of injury. Earlier, Rana was doubtful to miss the Australia series, but now it has been confirmed that the right-arm seamer has suffered a Grade 2 left-side strain. Overall, his recovery is expected to take six to eight weeks from the date of the injury.

2. Tanzim Hasan Sakib (Fast Bowler)

Bangladesh will also be without Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who has been sidelined due to injury. His absence further weakens Bangladesh's pace attack ahead of the challenging tour of Australia.

3. Shoriful Islam (Fast Bowler) – Fitness Concern

Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam is recovering from a Grade 1 hamstring injury. While he has not been ruled out completely, his fitness remains under assessment ahead of the opening Test. Shoriful still has a chance of returning during the Australia series.

4. Mustafizur Rahman (Fast Bowler)

The left-arm pacer is recovering well from the right hamstring and calf injuries he sustained during the Zimbabwe tour. According to the BCB, Mustafizur Rahman is continuing his rehabilitation every day and is due for a fitness assessment before the end of July.

5. Ebadot Hossain (Fast Bowler)

Ebadot Hossain will miss the Australia tour, but not because of injury. The pacer has been granted leave as he prepares for the birth of his first child.

6. Taskin Ahmed (Fast Bowler)

Taskin Ahmed is fully fit and has even withdrawn from the Lanka Premier League to focus exclusively on preparing for the Australia Test series.

This means Bangladesh's pace attack is set to miss at least Nahid Rana and Tanzim Hasan Sakib through injury, while Ebadot Hossain is unavailable for personal reasons, leaving Taskin Ahmed with a greater workload heading into the two-match Test series against Australia.

7. Litton Das (Batter)

Litton Das is expected to miss the 1st Test against Australia as he is still recovering from his left-calf muscle injury. He is in Singapore rehabilitating from the setback. Also, Litton Das is under disciplinary action because he visited China.

8. Mahedi Hasan (All-Rounder)

A report from Daily Sun reported that Bangladesh all-rounder Mahedi Hasan pointed fingers at management in the dressing room, which has not gone well with the board.

The incident occurred during Bangladesh’s T20I series against Australia, where the 31-year-old sat out in the 2nd and 3rd T20I despite doing well in the opening match. Hence, his selection is also under the scanner.
