Former RCB skipper and the batting legend, Virat Kohli, has established an unmatched and unforgettable legacy in IPL history. He is the leading run-scorer of all time in the tournament, alongside leading a lot of batting charts in the tournament’s history.

In the same vein, Virat Kohli has the record of smashing the highest number of fours in the IPL history. He has smashed 771 fours in his IPL career of 18 seasons across 17 years from 2008 to 2025. He will also be in action for RCB in the upcoming IPL 2026.

Meanwhile, here’s a look at the batters who can surpass Virat Kohli’s tally of most IPL fours.

5 Players who can surpass Virat Kohli’s tally of most IPL 4s

Yashasvi Jaiswal (RR)

The young RR opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has been one of those batters in IPL who mostly deal in the boundaries. He has smashed 258 fours in his 67-game IPL career for the Rajasthan Royals from his debut in 2020 to the latest appearance in IPL 2025.

On the back of his brilliant boundary-hitting ability, he has scored 2,166 runs in 66 innings at an average of 34.38 and a commendable strike rate of 152.85, including two centuries and 15 half-centuries.

The 24-year-old southpaw has a lot of years left to feature in IPL, which could give him a chance to become the batter with the most fours in IPL history, leaving Virat Kohli behind in this list.

Sai Sudharsan (GT)

The Gujarat Titans' top-order batter, Sai Sudharsan, was the most successful batter last year in IPL 2025. He ended up as the leading run-scorer of the tournament, with 759 runs in 15 innings at an outstanding average of 54.21, hitting a century and six half-centuries.

Apart from that, he also topped the list of batters with the most fours in IPL 2025, hitting 88 fours. At just 24, Sudharsan also has the time and talent to establish himself as an IPL great and surpass Virat Kohli's record for the most fours in IPL history.

KL Rahul (DC)

The veteran batter, KL Rahul, has played for five franchises since his IPL debut in 2013. He has played 145 games, scoring 5,222 runs in 136 innings at an outstanding average of 46.21, hitting five centuries and 40 half-centuries.

He is also one of the leading run-scorers among the currently active batters in IPL. Besides, he is also in the list of the batters with the most fours among the batters who are still playing in the tournament.

He has smashed 452 fours in his IPL career, just two boundaries behind Suryakumar Yadav (454 fours). KL Rahul is likely to lead the Delhi Capitals in the upcoming 19th IPL edition.

In the next couple of seasons, the Bangalore-born batter might surpass Virat Kohli’s highest number of fours and become the batter with the most IPL fours.

Shubman Gill - 372 fours

The Gujarat Titans skipper and the star opener, Shubman Gill, has impressed everyone with his sensational batting in IPL. He made his IPL debut in 2018 and has scored 3,866 runs in 115 innings at an average of 39.44, including four centuries and 26 half-centuries.

He also has 372 fours to his name in his seven-year IPL career across eight editions. As Gill is currently just 26, he has almost an extra decade to play in the IPL. Hence, he has a good enough chance to become the batter with the most IPL fours, surpassing Virat Kohli.

Shreyas Iyer (PBKS)

The Punjab Kings skipper, Shreyas Iyer, was the leading run-scorer for his side in the last edition in 2025. He led the side from the front till the tournament's final, scoring 604 runs in 17 innings at an average of 50.33, hitting six half-centuries, with 43 fours and 39 sixes.

Speaking of his overall IPL career, Iyer has played 133 games since his debut in 2015. In these appearances, he has scored 3,731 runs in 132 innings, with 27 half-centuries, hitting 314 fours. Iyer also seems to have the next 6-7 years left in his IPL career, during which he could go past Virat Kohli to set the record for the most fours in IPL history.
