If the fans didn’t to see this fast bowler with a quirky action last season, it was because he was seen in a new role of a bowling mentor. He is a three-time championship winner and ‘Slinga Malinga’ will be back in the 12th season purely as a bowler. There is always excitement when Malinga marks his run up and slings his arm to release the white ball.
He entered the auction and as expected, MI lapped him up for INR 2 crore. Malinga enters the tournament having led Sri Lanka’s T20 team in the recently concluded series in South Africa. Like Pollard, he too is a veteran and Rohit Sharma will get some help in the field in making vital decisions when the match goes right down to the wire. Malinga has over 100 IPL games under his belt and this experience will be vital.
