The Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) is just two sleeps away, and Kolkata Knight Riders will enter as the dark horse to lift the trophy. After all that happened last season, the three-time champions will be eager to put a fourth jersey on their jerseys. 

With Ajinkya Rahane at the helm, Kolkata have a strong batting core with a bunch of youthful energy, with two experienced heads in the captain and his deputy, Rinku Singh. Although there is still uncertainty about Matheesha Pathirana's availability, they have a lethal bowling line-up, given that seven league matches are being played at Eden Gardens.

With the T20 World Cup he had, there's a no-brainer in slotting in Finn Allen, especially after his unbeaten 33-ball ton in the semifinal at the franchise's home ground. The Kiwi opener loves to dismantle the opposition upfront, while Rahane knows how to wound any bowling side with his lovely shots.

Middle order and all-rounders: Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Sunil Narine

The 21-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi has shown a lot of promise in the last two seasons for the Knight Riders. Even though his numbers were too well in the SMAT and Mumbai T20, but Raghuvanshi has worked on his game and donned the gloves for this upcoming IPL season. 

Another promising cricketer in the Kokata camp has to be Ramandeep Singh. The all-rounder has been with the franchise for last two years, and was a key member during their trophy-lifting season in IPL 2024. Now, with Andre Russell retired, Ramandeep will have be the finisher for the IPL 2024 champions. 

As the two most senior members of the relatively young Kolkata squad, Rinku Singh and Sunil Narine are expected to take on a crucial role this season. Their leadership and performance will be vital in setting the foundation for the team's future success. Narine has been a part of all three title-winning squads for the three-time champions, while Rinku Singh has grown leaps and bounds in the last one year, which makes them a solid component of KKR’s best playing XI for IPL 2026.
