The Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) is just two sleeps away, and Kolkata Knight Riders will enter as the dark horse to lift the trophy. After all that happened last season, the three-time champions will be eager to put a fourth jersey on their jerseys.

With Ajinkya Rahane at the helm, Kolkata have a strong batting core with a bunch of youthful energy, with two experienced heads in the captain and his deputy, Rinku Singh. Although there is still uncertainty about Matheesha Pathirana's availability, they have a lethal bowling line-up, given that seven league matches are being played at Eden Gardens.

Moreover, the Knight Riders have the best spin attack of the season, who can choke any batting attack with their eight overs of tidy tweak.

With the IPL 2026 mere days away, here is KKR's best playing XI for the megaevent, keeping injuries and unavailabilities in mind.

Openers and top order: Ajinkya Rahane, Finn Allen, Cameron Green

Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen are expected to open the innings in KKR's best playing XI for IPL 2026. The pair is the best example of fire and ice!

With the T20 World Cup he had, there's a no-brainer in slotting in Finn Allen, especially after his unbeaten 33-ball ton in the semifinal at the franchise's home ground. The Kiwi opener loves to dismantle the opposition upfront, while Rahane knows how to wound any bowling side with his lovely shots.

KKR will slot Cameron Green at number three after they broke the bank for the big all-rounder. Green can anchor the innings and can also take the attack to the opposition. Plus, one can never discount his right-arm pace bowling.

Middle order and all-rounders: Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Sunil Narine

The 21-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi has shown a lot of promise in the last two seasons for the Knight Riders. Even though his numbers were too well in the SMAT and Mumbai T20, but Raghuvanshi has worked on his game and donned the gloves for this upcoming IPL season.

Another promising cricketer in the Kokata camp has to be Ramandeep Singh. The all-rounder has been with the franchise for last two years, and was a key member during their trophy-lifting season in IPL 2024. Now, with Andre Russell retired, Ramandeep will have be the finisher for the IPL 2024 champions.

As the two most senior members of the relatively young Kolkata squad, Rinku Singh and Sunil Narine are expected to take on a crucial role this season. Their leadership and performance will be vital in setting the foundation for the team's future success. Narine has been a part of all three title-winning squads for the three-time champions, while Rinku Singh has grown leaps and bounds in the last one year, which makes them a solid component of KKR’s best playing XI for IPL 2026.

Bowlers: Vaibhav Arora, Blessing Muzarabani, Kartik Tyagi, Varun Chakravarthy

Vaibhav Arora will be the leader of Kolkata Knight Riders' pace battery this season, with Harshit Rana injured. The right-arm pacer will need to set the rhythm with the new ball, considering the inexperience in the bowling. Along with Vaibhav, Karthik Tyagi is expected to fit in the Knight Riders likely playing XI for IPL 2026. He snapped three wickets in an over during Kolkata's intra-squad match.

Blessing Muzarabani, signed as a late replacement, will don the Purple and Gold shirt amid uncertainty over Pathirana. Yet to make his debut, Muzarabani will play a major role as an overseas bowler for KKR. However, he will extract pace and bounce on the juicy Kolkata track.

Last but not the least, Varun Chakravarthy, the current World No.2 bowler, will boast their bowling line-up. He will be their best bet as a wicket taker in Kolkata likely playing XI for IPL 2026.
