The MI Emirates with that win march confidently into the playoffs! They will be without Pooran for the rest of the tournament but with their squad depth they would have figured out a way to deal with that. For the Giants it is a tall task now with their 5th consecutive loss. The tournament moves back to Dubai tomorrow for an important clash between the Dubai Capitals and the Sharjah Warriorz! Do Join us!

On that note, I, Manan Mehta would like to sign off on behalf of my colleagues Saptak Sanyal and Yogesh Kumar. Goodnight!
Muhammad Waseem (Player of the Match): "First of all thanks to the almighty. Giving credit to the management. They are backing me after every game and keeping faith on me. I am firm believer on myself. A crucial game.

We were talking that the balls were swinging and we knew we had to bat 3-4 overs. We were looking for the partnership and after that we played normal game. We were waiting for the bad balls."
Player of the Match: Muhammad Waseem
Kieron Pollard (MI Emirates Captain): "Yeah it was a clinical win. After how we started with the bat, the two guys batted very well. You need to respect the conditions if the ball is moving around.

Also, we won the toss it makes a difference. The stats say that batting first is better but then you need to be smart and take some strong decisions. The dew came in today and helped us.

Pooran is a gun player, but he is leaving the tournament now. But yeah, he batted brilliantly. Waseem is a senior player for us. He is not just a UAE player, he is an important player for us, and he batted brilliantly and got us the needed win. No time for experiments in T20 cricket. Even though we have qualified we will look to keep the momentum going strongly."
James Vince (Gulf Giants Captain): "Ya I think we were bit short of runs and we found ourselves batting first in most of the games. Finding the right tempo and get to know what the good score is something got tricky. We lost two early wickets too. Stumbled a bit. Spirited effort with the ball. I thought the way guys held the upfront and got early wickets was really impressive. If we could have taken it to 50/4, we would have been in the game. Credit to the way the two guys batted.

I think we have a couple of days off now. We have to take the chance in the last game and try to take the win. We have to look forward now."
Muhammad Waseem gets the green belt as he is the highest run getter of the tournament now.
Time for the post-match presentations.
11:33 PM IST and 10:03 PM Local Time: MI Emirates win by 8 wickets. They had to fight it out for most of it but post the 10th over in the chase they smashed their way to victory. With that win the MI Emirates qualify for the playoffs!

The Gulf Giants were put into bat by the MI Emirates. Their batting innings did not start on the best note. They were 3 down for 27 in the first four overs itself. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, James Vince and Asif Khan all fell to false shots. Moeen Ali and Lorcan Tucker did some rebuilding before the latter fell at 49/4. Then Azmatullah Omarzai joined Ali, and they did some more rebuilding before Omarzai fell at 89/5.

The real impetus came in there with Kyle Mayers joining Ali. Both batters played some exquisite shots. Ali got to his 50. Mayers finished with 28* off 18 balls. They somehow pushed the score to 141 at the end of the 20th over. The pick of the bowlers for the Emirates were Fazalhaq Farooqi (2-17) and Romario Shepherd (2-36).

The wicket was a tricky one and it was not going to be all that easy for Emirates to chase this down. The Giants had the perfect start as they got Jonny Bairstow LBW on the fourth ball for a duck. That would have been not out if Bairstow had reviewed but he did not. Tom Banton too fell for a duck in the very next over after he hit one straight up courtesy of a poor shot. The Emirates were 2/2 in 2 overs.

Two out of form batters in Nicholas Pooran and Mohammad Waseem were then given the responsibility of rebuilding the chase. Both batters took their time. They were not finding the middle of the bat, but they made sure they stuck in. There was a run out chance to get Waseem out in the middle overs, but Kyle Mayers bottled a simple chance. With some good running around that both batters got the score to 58/2 at the halfway mark.

They needed 84 off 60 balls at that stage and from then on the batters just flicked a switch. They had spent enough time out there to get themselves back into form. Now it was time for them to play some shots, something that they are usually known for. And they did in style. They scored 11 off the 11th over, 9 off the 12th over and 13 off the 13th and 14th over.

They continued to smash the ball left right and center. Both batters got to their first fifties of the tournament. Eventually, the Emirates got over the line in 16.3 overs and crafted a massive win. Pooran ended with 69* and Waseem was not behind by much with 59* to his name. Mind it, it wasn't all that straightforward for 75% of the game. Excellent crafty win for the Emirates. For the Giants the table is a steep one to climb now.
