Milestone
That brings our coverage of Day 2 between Mumbai and Chhattisgarh to an end. The moving day will be crucial in the context of the match, as the former side will push for a result and the latter will try to secure a draw. However, all of that will happen if the rain gods permit us. See you all tomorrow!

This is Arjun Bhalla, signing of on behalf of my colleagues for the day - Asraj Khan and Pritam Dey!
Session Breakdown on Day 2:

Session 1: Overs - 28, Runs - 93, Wickets - 1

Session 2: Overs - 18, Runs - 62, Wickets - 2

Session 3: No Play
4:02 PM IST and Local Time: Stumps have been called in early. Just a total of 46 overs were bowled on Day 2, with rain having the say in the latter half of the day.

Things were going just fine until the game paused due to poor lighting in the late minutes of the first session, then it poured for two odd minutes. However, all of that turned out to be a passing shower, and we had a play of nearly 10 minutes after the halt in the morning session.

It seemed that the weather had cleared up as it didn't rain for the next 18 overs after Lunch, but the bucketing followed in the next hour in the afternoon session and never stopped.

Meanwhile, on the cricketing front, Mumbai's Ajinkya Rahane and Akash Anand had a day to remember. The veteran batter scored 159 runs, coming out to bat after retiring out on 118*. Meanwhile, the latter is still batting on a well-compiled 60. For Chhattisgarh, Ravi Kiran had a scalp to his name, and Aditya Sarwate snapped two wickets in the day.

Mumbai are on 406/8 after 130 overs!
3:30 PM IST and Local Time: Tea break is far from over, but we have no clue when the play will resume. We aren't getting any visuals from the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy for now, but it is said to be raining heavily in Mumbai. The World Cup fixture between India Women and Bangladesh Women, scheduled for the city, is also being halted due to rain.
2:40 PM IST and Local Time: Tea has been taken officially. Due to heavy rains, an early Tea has been taken here at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy. Mumbai head into the break at 406/8 at the end of the second session on Day 2.

Mumbai’s veteran Ajinkya Rahane and Akash Anand resumed proceedings after lunch, looking to build on the strong platform. Rahane, however, could add only 5 runs to his tally in the afternoon session before Aditya Sarwate struck in the 115th over to end his marathon knock. Rahane departed for a superb 159 off 303 deliveries, with Sarwate claiming his third wicket of the innings. Rahane received a well-deserved standing ovation from his teammates as he made his way back to the pavilion.

Mumbai skipper Shardul Thakur walked in after Rahane’s dismissal and, along with Akash Anand, looked quite comfortable at the crease. Akash reached a well-crafted half-century, getting there in 123 balls with solid stroke play and composure. The big question was when Shardul would start freeing his arms — and he did just that, striking a couple of crisp boundaries in the 128th over. The duo added a handy 48-run stand for the 8th wicket before Shardul threw his wicket away right at the stroke of the drinks break, departing for 29 off 42 balls and giving Aditya Sarwate his fourth wicket of the innings.

Akash Anand and Tushar Deshpande were the two men at the crease, adding 7 runs together before play was interrupted. Bad light forced a stoppage, and soon after, rain began to fall, prompting the players to head off the field. With conditions deteriorating, the umpires decided to call for an early Tea break!
1:56 PM: Not the news fans would’ve wanted to hear. The umpires have taken a light reading and decided that the conditions aren’t suitable for play. The players have been asked to walk off the field as the light fades. And now the ground staff are sprinting in with the covers as a light drizzle begins at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy. For the moment, it’s bad light and light rain that have brought play to a halt!
1:49 PM: The Fourth Umpire comes out with the light meter. The umpires are taking a reading of it now. Meanwhile, Akash Anand is getting some treatment from the physio. It's time for the Drinks Break! Mumbai were scoring freely, but they lost their skipper 2 overs back, halting the momentum a bit. The hosts now sit at 406/8, with Akash Anand well set on 60 and looking to carry on.
