It was another thriller in Dallas, and MI New York once again fell short in the final over β their third such loss this season. Washington Freedom, meanwhile, are on a roll after the hammering they received in their campaign opener against the San Francisco Unicorns.
Thatβs all we have for you from this contest. This is Ajay Pal Singh signing off on behalf of my colleague Ashok Dayma. Goodbye!

Glenn Maxwell (Washington Freedom Captain): "Certainly, it got a little too close than what we thought. Mark Chapman did well in the end to take us home.
Maybe just not sure how much is the winning total. Leaving too much to do in the end. They have couple of world class bowlers, you execute the yorkers well.
Not really, just trying to take off pressure from the guys coming in. I was lucky enough to get a couple off the middle that gave us a bit of buffer.
It is 3 now, after the disappointment of the first game. Three very different games. The batting group stood up. I am sure many guys would be ruing the fact that they were not there in the end to hit the winning runs."
Mitchell Owen (POTM): "Not in the MLC (on multiple POTM awards in recent times). I just want to get the team off to a good start and take the pressure off the middle order. It was a very nice wicket, both powerplays were even. It was a true wicket.
No discussion halfway, it is just sort of coaches and staff backing what I do. It is going right, I am ready to bowl at any stage.
Umm, I feel like the situation is such that we have a few injuries. I am just happy to help with the ball and help the team."
Player of the Match: Mitchell Owen
Nicholas Pooran (MI New York Captain): "I think that was a good score. We slowed down in the middle overs. We needed to control the powerplay but they came out positively. I think we got wickets too late. In a chase, once you get off to a good start, it is hard to pull it back. We fought hard and that is commendable from the boys.
I won't say it got harder. They bowled well. I could have been a bit braver, got out at the wrong time.
We know we haven't batted well as a group. As a team, it is important to not lose games by a big margin. Our net run-rate is still good. We are competing which is important, I belief the results should go in our way sometime."
9:10 AM IST & 10:40 PM Local Time: Washington Freedom get past the finish line with four balls to spare. Mitchell Owen laid the foundation for the run chase with a quickfire fifty. Mark Chapman, after a slow start, saw them home. It was another nail-biting finish that went against MI New York. This is the fourth highest run chase in MLC history and the third consecutive time Washington Freedom have defeated MI New York.
Earlier in the game, Washington Freedom won the toss and opted to bowl first. They conceded 188/4. Quinton de Kock made 55 while Monank Patel and Nicholas Pooran scored 32 and 33 respectively. Michael Bracewell's whirlwind knock of 42 off 24 took them to 188/4.
Mitchell Owen came out all guns blazing and scored 60 off just 26 balls. Rachin Ravindra and Andries Gous fell cheaply but Mark Chapman held one end together and remained not out on 45 off 32.
Glenn Maxwell hit a couple of maximums during his cameo of 16 off 5. Chapman hit the winning runs in the last over. Trent Boult, Naveen-ul-Haq, Sunny Patel all bagged two wickets each while Rushil Ugarkar picked up one. However, it wasn't enough as Freedom got the win with four balls to spare.
