Chennai Super Kings have turned party spoilers in the City of Joy, defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders by 2 wickets in a tense finish and snapping their four-match losing streak. Once again, it was MS Dhoni doing what he does best, soaking up the pressure and finishing things off the game in the last over. He truly has a love affair with Eden Gardens, and tonight was another chapter in that legacy.
For KKR, it's a gut-wrenching loss. Questions will be raised about Ajinkya Rahaneβs captaincy, especially in the latter stages of the game. They had their moments but let the game slip, and now their playoff hopes are dangling by a thread.
The race to the playoffs is heating up and every game is now a virtual knockout. Tomorrow, all eyes turn to Dharamsala as PBKS host DC in what promises to be another cracking contest. For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide who, along with scorer/analyst Paras Yadav and statistician Aman brought all the updates of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYEπ
Noor Ahmad (Player of the Match): "I think it was a super win. Really happy with the win. Also, happy with my bowling. Also, Brevis played really well and get that win in the end.
I didn't keep my focus on becoming the top wicket-taker. I just want to keep contributing to the win.
I think the nick from Raghuvanshi, I enjoyed that wicket.
I just try to use the length well and that's what is working for me right now."

MS Dhoni (CSK Captain): "It's good to be on the winning side you know. We got a lot of things correct tonight and I can obviously get emotional about it because of the pride factor. I felt that what was important is that, we wanted to be practical about it. We wanted to fill in the 25 players in the squad. We want to be more competitive but also want to look into the next year. We also want to look into the right combinations, which bowler can bowl which overs according to the conditions. The batting order was not right earlier but now the intent is really good in the batters.
You know the thing is, these are the players who are part of our squad right now. You may see them in the nets, you may see them in the practice games but nothing in the match. You need to give them opportunities and that's what counts. The batters need to figure out a few things especially what is a bluff ball which is nowadays a go to delivery for a bowler. These small things are important for everyone now.
The chat was simple with Shivam. You have to keep their spinners out of the game. Thanks to Brevis who played an incredible knock and that innings controlled the required run rate too which wasn't too high. We didn't want to give any wicket to Sunil or Varun. We wanted to take it deep and not to forget, I was the last batter so the tension really builds up. Shivam played calculated shots and it brings the run-rate down.
I think that's the love and affection I have got from the fans. Not to forget, I am 43 so I have played for a long time (chuckles). I feel most of them don't really know when it will be my last year so they want to support me, watch me play. It's a fact Deep because it's a two months period and after that I need to work hard for another 6-8 months and see if the body will be able to take the pressure or not. Nothing for me to decide as of now."
