A left-arm spinner from Goa, Shadab Jakati used the inaugural IPL season to get out of cricketing obscurity. A left-arm orthodox spinner, Jakati got appreciable turn from the South African pitches, and was crucial to Chennai Super Kings' surge in the middle stages of the 2009 tournament. He claimed four-fors in back-to-back games, a remarkable achievement in Twenty20s, to announce himself. Jakati was also a key figure in Chennai's winning campaign the following year, claiming 13 wickets. He represented CSK until 2013 before being roped in by RCB at the 2014 Player Auction.
