Natasha McLean is a quality cricketer from Jamaica who has been representing West Indies since 2012. A middle-order batter and a stand-in wicketkeeper, McLean is a power-hitter who takes the attack to the bowlers and loves expressing herself through her dancing moves.
The Jamaican-born stumper is a crowd puller, like any other West Indies cricketer, and made both her T20I and ODI debuts against Sri Lanka but didn’t have a dream start in her international career. McLean made a comeback in early 2013 and played regularly for the next couple of years.
She played the 50-over World Cup of 2013 where West Indies finished as runners-up but unfortunately McLean had an ordinary tournament. Post the ICC event, her dip continued during the next season which saw her being sidelined from the squad.
McLean made a comeback into the national side after three years in the shortest format against South Africa. The dasher had a promising return when she scored 160 runs in 4 T20I matches that led to her selection for the 2018 World T20.
A year later, McLean made her way into the 50-over side as well and scored her maiden ODI half-century. However, she hasn’t found consistency in any of the formats that led McLean to miss the flight for the 2020 World T20.
McLean has shown a lot of potential in her career so far but consistency has also been a lacking factor in the dasher’s success. She has been playing the sport at the highest level for almost a decade now but has only managed to hit three half-centuries. However, with age on her side, she is well potent to easily turn the tables.
