The slow approach in the chase is what can be stated as the cause of loss for the Trinbago Knight Riders Women. Having played two matches, they are yet to gain a point. On the other hand, the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women managed to go over the line by 21 runs today and fetched their first victory of WCPL 2023.
It was a pleasure to bring forth the coverage in front of you. This is Arijit Kundu with the finishing task, and was succored by co-commentator, Deepak Prakash and scorer/analyst, Ashok Dayma for the live ball-by-ball proceedings of this enthralling event.
Stafanie Taylor (Guyana Amazon Warriors Women Captain):"I am really pleased. You can see I am smiling. We have been knocking on the door and were not on the winning side. Nice that today we did it. I think the bowling. We knew the areas where we wanted to bowl but the execution was not there. She is fantastic and she always wants to bowl. Sometimes she [ Shreyanka Patil] gives me headaches and I am like Shreyanka what are you doing? And then I plan my field positions according to her.
Yeah, with the bowling, and all those things, batting and fielding we should be on the top."
Sophie Devine (Player of the Match): "Yeah, look, I certainly love my time here in the Caribbean. It's just been great. I think obviously we've been really close the last two games that haven't been able to get over the line, so just really proud of the group. The way that they've bounced back today and to get a win over here in Trinidad has been really nice.
Yeah, we certainly know how dangerous she [Dottin] can be. And she looked like she was on target for a big score and chasing that down, so we had plans, but if you miss by a millimeter, she'll put you into the stand. So look really happy to be able to get her out and then the rest of the bowlers did a great job.
Yeah, I think it probably takes a little bit more turn here. I think it's well known that it probably is a bit more spin-friendly, but I still think Seamers can have a role to play with change of pace and variation. So, look, I think that's the great thing about competitions like this is you play at different venues and you have to be able to adapt. So look really proud of the group again and we've got another big game to come on Sunday."
Player of the Match: Sophie Devine.
