A tall, lanky fast bowler, Jason Behrendorff is a white-ball specialist for the Australian national team. Behrendorff has the ability to strike early in the power play, with his lively bounce and ferocious swing causing trouble for many a top-order batter.
Born in New South Wales, Behrendorff made his debut for Western Australia in a one-day match in 2011, bagging a wicket with his very first ball. His breakthrough season came in 2013-14 when he finished the summer as the second-highest wicket-taker in the Marsh Shield with 40 wickets at 22.70.
The young pacer shot to fame after a breakout season in the 2014-15 Big Bash League(BBL). Playing for Perth Scorchers, he was a pivotal part of the squad as they won consecutive BBL titles. He took 15 wickets in the tournament, just one behind top wicket-taker John Hastings.
Behrendorff made his international debut against India in a T20I fixture on January 12th, 2019, and in just his second T20I after his debut, he registered incredible figures of 4-21 dismissing the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, and Manish Pandey.
After missing the entire BBL|09 tournament with a back injury, Behrendorff made a comeback in the tenth edition picking up 16 wickets in 16 matches leading the Scorchers to yet another final. After Josh Hazlewood pulled out of the 2021 Indian Premier League, Behrendorff was signed as a replacement for the remainder of the IPL.
With the T20 World Cup on the head, the NSW-born seamer would be hoping to have a crack against the best players from around the world in the cash-rich league which will be a stepping stone for him going into the World Cup.
