Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai Profile, Career & Stats

Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai is one of Afghanistan’s emerging cricket talents, known for his energetic fast bowling and useful middle-order batting. Born in Khost, Afghanistan, Ahmadzai represents a new generation of Afghan cricketers who have come through the country’s rapidly developing domestic system and youth programs.

A right-arm medium-fast bowler and right-handed batter, Ijaz first came into prominence through Afghanistan’s Under-19 setup. He was a key member of the squad during the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup, where his ability to swing the ball and bowl with discipline earned him praise from coaches and commentators alike.

Following his success at the youth level, Ahmadzai made his way into domestic cricket, making his List A debut in May 2022 and first-class debut in October 2022. He has regularly featured in T20 tournaments taking place across Afghanistan. 

In March 2024, he earned his maiden international call and made his T20I debut for Afghanistan against Ireland in Sharjah. 

Since then, he hasn't gotten any chance to play international cricket. However, in October 2025, he was named in the squad for the away T20I series against Zimbabwe, and the all-rounder will hope to feature in the playing XI. 

With time and experience, the 2003-born cricketer is one of Afghanistan’s most exciting young prospects — a cricketer whose all-round ability reflects the country’s growing cricketing depth.
