Predominantly a red-ball cricketer, Cameron Bancroft is a well-composed wicket-keeper batsman for the Australian cricket team. Bancroft came through the Western Australia system and he has the ability to bat anywhere in the top six and has the temperament to play different roles for his team.
The Perth-born batsman made his List A debut against Tasmania on October 16th, 2011, and had to wait for two more years to make his first-class debut. After a long struggle in the domestic circuit, Test cricket came calling for Bancroft ahead of the 2017/18 Ashes series. He immediately shone on his debut posting an unbeaten 82 in the second innings at Brisbane.
Bancroft was part of the Test squad for the 2019 South Africa tour that caught the attention of the entire world regarding the sandpaper scandal. His involvement in the scandal during the Cape Town Test landed him a nine-month ban from all forms of cricket.
After returning back to international cricket, Bancroft immediately worked his way back to contention and was selected for the 2019 Ashes series held in England. A consistent performer for the Perth Scorchers, he has been a part of the franchise for the last 6 years, amassing over 1000 runs in Big Bash League(BBL).
A talented sportsman, Bancroft is known for plying his trade in franchise cricket all over the world. He has also spent a few summers in County cricket for Durham and has grown into a responsible cricketer since his suspension. Still just 28 years old, he would be backing his skillset to make a comeback in Australia’s red-ball team.
