In the heart of Andhra Pradesh, where cricket is a passion and not just a sport, a young prodigy, Tripurana Vijay, emerged from the humble town of Tekkali. A name that was once whispered in local cricketing circles is now making its way into mainstream discussions, thanks to his stellar performances in domestic cricket.

With an innate ability to contribute with both bat and ball, Vijay is proving to be an all-round sensation. His meteoric rise, marked by perseverance and dedication, has now culminated in an IPL contract with the Delhi Capitals, signaling the beginning of a promising future.

Born on September 5, 2001, in Tekkali, Andhra Pradesh, Vijay was drawn to cricket at a young age. He spent countless hours honing his skills in the narrow streets of his hometown before stepping onto competitive platforms. His passion for the game saw him rise through the ranks of junior-level cricket, eventually earning a spot in the Andhra Pradesh domestic squad.

In February 2022, Vijay announced himself on the domestic circuit with a debut in First-Class cricket against Rajasthan at Thumba. He got his debut wicket in the form of Mahipal Lomror in the second innings.

In List A cricket, Vijay made his debut against Jammu & Kashmir at Brabourne in December 2021. He didn’t get a wicket but bowled two maiden overs in his 10-over quota.

His T20 debut came in October 2023, against Punjab at Ranchi, where he bagged two important wickets of Prabhsimran Singh and Naman Dhir. With the bat, he also hit 23 crucial runs.

A defining moment in his domestic career came during the Ranji Trophy 2024/25 season, when he secured a 10-wicket match haul against Rajasthan- an achievement that highlighted his ability to dismantle opposition batting lineups with ease. This feat caught the attention of IPL scouts and cricket pundits alike, further strengthening his credentials.

Vijay’s domestic heroics did not go unnoticed. At the IPL 2025 mega auction, he was snapped up by the Delhi Capitals for INR 30 lakhs. This acquisition also made him the first cricketer from the Srikakulam district to feature in the IPL.
