Karnataka all-rounder Kashvi Kandikuppa, fondly known as Uma Kashvi by the cricketing fraternity, is set to make her WPL debut next year during the WPL 2027 season. Aged 15, she was roped in by the Delhi Capitals Women franchise on the day of the WPL 2027 auction on Wednesday, October 28.

Notably, she has now become the youngest cricketer in the history of the WPL to get selected at the auction. Following Kashvi’s landmark moment, here is a detailed look at her career and cricketing upbringing.

Who is Uma Kashvi?

Uma Kashvi is an all-rounder who plays for the Karnataka Women’s team in Indian domestic cricket. She is a right-handed batter who also bowls off-spin.

The youngster shot herself to prominence after aggregating 516 runs during the recent BCCI Women’s Under-15 One-Day Tournament. She hammered three hundreds and one half-century, and maintained a staggering batting average of 172 in the tournament.

According to Deccan Herald, Uma Kashvi has also captained the Karnataka Under-15 team in India junior tournaments, and has led the Bengaluru Blasters team in the KSCA Maharani Trophy.

She has been a part of the team that lifted the Women’s Under-19 T20 Trophy, and has reached the semifinal of the Women’s Under-19 One-Day Trophy.

Just this year back in June and July, Uma Kashvi was picked in India Women Under-19 squad for their three-match youth ODI and three-match youth T20I series against Sri Lanka Women Under-19 in Puducherry and Chennai.

In the five matches she played against the visiting Sri Lankans, the cricketer scored 29 runs at an average of 14.50, and also harvested an astonishing collection of six wickets in five innings.
