Team India's limited-overs downfall has turned into a nightmare that refuses to end. Just after lifting the T20 World Cup 2024, a young Indian side travelled to Zimbabwe under Shubman Gill’s leadership, but the inaugural clash of the series turned out to be a forgettable one. Zimbabwe Pulls Off An Unthinkable Win As India Crumbles
After the first innings ended with a low total, the entire cricketing world expected the reigning world champions to comfortably extend their winning streak. Little did anyone know that Zimbabwe was about to script one of the most astonishing low-score defenses in T20I history.
As Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill took strike, Bennett sent back Abhishek on a duck in the very first over. After that dismissal, when Team India tried to build a strong partnership, Blessing Muzarabani removed Gaikwad quickly.
In front of Sikandar Raza and Tendai Chatara’s exceptional bowling display, Team India’s batting order crumbled as they failed to chase down the 116-run target. With captain Shubman Gill’s 29-ball 31 and Washington Sundar’s 34-ball 27, Team India ended their innings in just 102 runs, and Zimbabwe pulled off a dominating 13-run victory.
