India, under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, have made a perfect start to their ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2026 campaign, winning all three of their Group A matches. The team has been dominant, finishing the group stage comfortably at the top of the table with 6 points and an NRR of +5.471. 

Team India has qualified for the semifinal of the Women's Asia Cup 2026 following three consecutive victories, including a dominant seven-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan. 

Smriti Mandhana has so far made the most runs in the ongoing tournament. She has played 3 matches and made 152 runs at an average of 50.66 and a strike rate of 178.82. With the ball, Deepti Sharma has starred for India Women, scalping 8 wickets at an economy rate of 1.90. 

India's road to Women's Asia Cup 2026 semifinal

India began their campaign with a 94-run victory over Thailand on August 30. They scored 159/9, with Shafali Verma leading the way with a quick 64 off 36 balls. Thailand were then bowled out for just 65.

The second match against Hong Kong was another one-sided contest. India scored 193/5, with Smriti Mandhana producing a record-breaking 124 off just 64 balls at a strike rate of 193.75. Hong Kong could manage only 56, and India won by 137 runs.

India then defeated Pakistan by seven wickets on September 5. Pakistan were dismissed for just 55, their lowest-ever T20I total. Shree Charani and Prema Rawat picked up three wickets each, while India completed the chase in only 8.4 overs.

India's Record In Women's Asia Cup Knockout Matches

India have played seven knockout matches in the Women’s Asia Cup, winning five and losing two. Their record includes several important contests against Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

India's first two listed knockout wins came against Pakistan. They won by 18 runs in 2012 and followed it up with a 17-run victory in 2016.

In 2018, Bangladesh defeated India by three wickets, and in 2022, India bounced back to defeat Sri Lanka by eight wickets. In the same year, India also defeated Thailand by 74 runs in the 1st semifinal.

However, in Women's Asia Cup 2024 final, Sri Lanka defeated India by eight wickets in Dambulla.

In conclusion, India’s overall T20I knockout record may be mixed, but their Women’s Asia Cup knockout record is much better. After winning all three Group A matches in 2026, the team will enter the semifinal with confidence on September 10.
