India will play the fifth and final T20I against West Indies on October 17, as the teams look to clinch the series in what could be a thrilling fixture to end West Indies' tour of India. However, the Indian team could miss Arshdeep Singh for the decider after the left-arm pacer suffered an injury.

In Arshdeep Singh's potential absence, Prince Yadav becomes the lead pacer of the side, and the bowling coach Morne Morkel has spoken highly of the bowler ahead of the game.

Prince Yadav receives Morkel's support

While Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been added to the Indian squad for the last T20I of the series, Prince Yadav is currently the pacer who has been much more around the team recently. Hence, he becomes an automatic choice to lead the attack across phases.

The former Proteas pacer and India's bowling coach, Morne Morkel, revealed his first observations about Yadav from his stint as Lucknow Super Giants' coach. Furthermore, he backed the right-arm quick to do well in the match in Bengaluru.

"During my time with LSG, one could identify his [Prince's] ability to bowl yorkers. But I like his mindset. He has bowled tough overs," said Morkel during the pre-match press conference.

Prince Yadav's moment to shine?

As mentioned by Morkel, the 24-year-old quick has been mighty impressive since the IPL 2026 season. While LSG struggled to pick results, Prince Yadav was inarguably one of their players of the season, picking 16 wickets in 14 matches.

Having impressed with his hit-the-deck bowling at good pace, Prince was fast-tracked to the Indian setup and has already played 11 matche across ODIs and T20Is. His best performance of 3/22 came against Ireland in Belfast, but this time around, he will be leading the attack.

As Prince leads the pack in the series decider, he will have a chance to audition for the ODI setup, where he remains on the periphery. Considering the World Cup 2027 is in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, he coud be a valuable option to have for the Indians.
