It's only day two of the Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe Only Test, and it's got a lot more intense, with both teams packing in serious action with all their might. While Innocent Kaia produced a brilliant 140 runs from a resilient 227 deliveries, Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam ran riot with his seven-wicket haul against the hosts.

Taijul bagged his scalps from 40 overs while being a resilient bowler for his team. His efforts led him to one of the most prestigious lists of wicket-takers for Bangladesh across the Test, ODI, and T20I formats.

Taijul Islam Becomes One Of The Highest Wicket Takers For Bangladesh Across Formats

Taijul now sits among veterans like Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mehedi Hasan Miraz with his mammoth achievement that he garnered in the Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe only Test.

Taijul Islam completed his 300 wickets for Bangladesh and is now behind these legends in the all-time highest wicket-taking list for the Bengal Tigers across formats. Taijul got the honours by playing 129 innings, delivering over 17,000 balls, and bowling 468 maiden overs.

The Decorated Bangladesh Spinner In The Whites

Taijul, one of the most hardworking left-arm spinners that Bangladesh have ever produced, was a talent that was recognised very early.

On his ODI debut, he took a hat-trick, becoming the first bowler ever to take a hat-trick on his ODI debut. But in the whites too, Taijul's dedication and hard work are acknowledged.

In Tests, Taijul Islam has played 106 innings and taken 263 wickets while bowling at an average of 30.49 and an economy rate of 3.05. Meanwhile, in ODIs, he has had fewer appearances but managed to take 31 scalps.

With most of his speciality in the Test whites, Taijul's skill with the ball helped Bangladesh contain a Zimbabwe side that posted 410 runs in their first innings of the match.

Zimbabwe Rein Heavy On Bangladesh On Day 2

After Bangladesh performed a poor batting display by being bundled out for 140 runs in their first innings, courtesy of Newman Nyamhuri's breathtaking bowling display, Zimbabwe started off batting aggressively, ending day one on 136 runs.

On Day 2, Zimbabwe continued the onslaught, with valuable contributions from Innocent as well as Wessley Madhevere and Craig Ervine. Taijul Islam was one of the bowlers from the Bangladesh camp, besides Hasan Mahmud, Khaled Ahmed, and Ebadot Hossain, who was very successful in limiting Zimbabwe to 410 runs.

Otherwise, Zimbabwe's massive lead could have been even more troublesome. As Zimbabwe was stopped in their tracks, Bangladesh came into bat in the hope of covering a massive trail that stood at over 270 runs.
