Sunrisers Hyderabad register lowest IPL score [Source: AP]
Standing at the brink of yet another IPL playoff qualification, the Sunrisers Hyderabad had one of their worst outings of the season as they faced the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
Captain Pat Cummins had notably won the toss and put GT in to bat first and put on some early pressure as well. Led by Praful Hinge's new-ball spell, the hosts were reduced to 64/3 in 9.3 overs. However, Washington Sundar and Sai Sudharsan staged a comeback for the hosts with fifties each and took the team to 168/5 in 20 overs.
In response, the 2016 IPL champions folded for their lowest-ever total in the IPL history, whilst also making several other unfortunate records.
SRH record their lowest-ever IPL total
As the Men in Orange looked to take down GT in the four-pointer, 169 looked like a chasable target ahead of the second innings.
Nonetheless, the GT bowlers were all over the visitors, dismissing the dangerous Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma for 0 (4) and 6 (4), respectively. SRH never recovered from the early dismissals and crumbled like a deck of cards.
Despite starts for Heinrich Klaasen and Salil Arora, the wickets kept tumbling and the in-form batting unit failed to even get to 100 runs. Pat Cummins tried to salvage something and scored a brisk 19 off 9 but they were bowled out for just 86 runs and lost by 82, jolting their net run-rate.

SRH's playoff hopes take a jolt
Moving into the match against the GT away from home, both SRH and GT were level on points, but the Sunrisers had a better net run-rate and were top of the table. The win would not just have taken their one foot to secure the playoffs but could have also hurt GT's chances in the process.
Now, SRH have two must-win matches remaining against CSK and RCB, who are also competing for the top-4 finish. The Pat Cummins-led outfit will need to put this loss behind and return with high spirits if they want to qualify for the knockouts.
