The world's no. 1 ODI batter, Rohit Sharma, is set to be in action in the India vs New Zealand ODI series 2026. He will be in action in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, starting on Sunday, January 11, with the series opener at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

Rohit has been in sensational batting form in ODIs, as he displayed in the three-match series against Australia and the three home ODIs against South Africa. The Hitman also won the ‘Player of the Series’ award in the three-match ODI series against Australia in Australia.

He has scored 348 runs in six innings, with a fantastic average of 69.60 and a strike rate of 94.56. The veteran opener has also smashed a century and three half-centuries in these six appearances, including three each against Australia and South Africa.

That said, here’s a look at the records that Rohit Sharma can break during the three-match ODI series against New Zealand.

Rohit Sharma can become the 1st batter to hit 650 international sixes

Rohit Sharma is currently at the top spot in the list of batters with the most sixes in international cricket across all formats, be it Tests, ODIs, or T20Is. He has smashed 648 sixes in 538 international innings across the 505 international games he has played.

Rohit’s power-hitting dominance can be underscored by the fact that the batter at the second spot, Chris Gayle, with 553 sixes, is 95 sixes away from Rohit. Rohit has a chance to become the only batter in the history to hit 650 international sixes.

Former batting legend Sachin Tendulkar tops the list of the Indian batters with the most fours in the ODIs, with 2016 fours across 452 innings. He is followed by Virat Kohli’s 1356 fours and Sourav Ganguly’s 1104 fours at the second and third spots, respectively.

Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag smashed 1092 fours in 235 ODI innings, just 11 more than Rohit Sharma, who is at number five with 1081 fours in 271 innings. Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are the top two batters with the highest number of 50+ scores in the One-Day Internationals, with 145 and 129 50+ scores, respectively. Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma jointly follow them with 94 50+ scores each.

Rohit Sharma will have a good enough chance to surpass Rahul Dravid with just one 50+ score in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. If Rohit manages to score a 50+ score in any of the three ODIs against NZ, he will become the third Indian batter to hit the most 50+ scores in ODIs.
