Saturday evening marked another forgettable outing for Pakistan wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan, who is currently playing for the Melbourne Renegades in the ongoing Big Bash League season.
As they faced their city rivals, the Melbourne Stars in Docklands, and batted first, he once again managed just over a run-a-ball score of 21 (20) with two fours to his name.
As the Renegades look to improve their standings on the points table from number 7, they were asked to bat first by Marcus Stoinis and Rizwan had to walk in to bat at 74/2 in the 9th over but as has been the case throughout the season, the right-hand batter never looked like shifting gears and added 28(27) for the third wicket, playing 20 balls himself before he was dismissed by Stoinis thorugh a stunning catch from Sam Harper.
"Rizwan's strike rate proves liability for Melbourne Renegades
The 33-year-old is widely considered one of the biggest stars from Pakistan alongside Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi currently. However, since joining the Melbourne-based team, he had proven to be a big liability for his team, only striking at a rate of 100. Following are his scores in the ongoing BBL season
1. 4 (10) vs Adelaide Heat
2. 32 (26) vs Hobart Hurricanes
3. 16 (12) vs Hobart Hurricanes
4. 6 (10) vs Sydney Sixers
5. 41 (38) vs Melbourne Stars
6. 21 (25) vs Perth Scorchers
7. 21 (20) vs Melbourne Stars (TODAY)
At the time of writing, Renegades managed to do some damage control through Brown's 80 off 50 with four sixes and 7 fours, alongside 23 (18) from Hassan Khan to reach a decent score of 166/7 after 20 overs. Stoinis took 3/33 (4), alongside 2/31 for Rizwan's national teammate Haris Rauf and a wicket each for Peter Siddle and Tom Curran, who conceded at similar rates.
Below is how the fans reacted to his 141 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of 100 for a struggling Renegades side.
