Playing just her second match for Team India, Niki Prasad bowled for the first time in her international career during India’s second T20I of the three-match series against Zimbabwe in October 2026 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.

With Zimbabwe reaching a comfortable 75-3 in 14 overs, the youngster was introduced into the attack by her captain Smriti Mandhana. Notably, Niki responded to her skipper’s call by breaking the threatening partnership between well-set Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano and captain Josephine Nkomo.

While Niki Prasad missed her hat-trick opportunity and finished her two-over spell with figures of 2-7, she became only the second bowler in Women’s T20I history to take a wicket in each of the first two balls of her career, joining USA’s Anisa Rao (against Bangladesh in 2019) in the exclusive list.

Moreover, among players from member nations, the youngster has become the first cricketer in Women’s T20I history to do so.
