Another day, another milestone for Joe Root as the England star continued his sensational form by scoring his third ODI fifty of the ongoing India vs England ODI series on Sunday, July 19.

Batting first at Lord’s, England got off to an excellent start courtesy of openers Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell. The duo laid a solid foundation with an aggressive approach, putting the Indian bowlers under pressure from the outset. Although Bethell narrowly missed out on a well-deserved century, he played a brilliant knock of 91 runs.

Meanwhile, Duckett went on to complete a magnificent century and also stitched together a crucial 101-run partnership with Joe Root before eventually falling to Prince Yadav. However, the dismissal of Duckett did little to slow England's momentum. Instead, Joe Root continued to bat with composure and confidence.

Joe Root Continues His Red-Hot Form

Additionally, Root's incredible run of form has been one of the biggest positives for England throughout IND vs ENG ODI series. Notably, he carried his outstanding touch into the home series against India after Sri Lanka ODI series and has remained unbeaten in every innings so far.

In the opening ODI, he guided England with an unbeaten 76. He followed it up with a match-winning knock of 99* in 2nd ODI, narrowly missing out on a century while leading England to victory. Now, in the series decider, he has once again delivered when his team needed him the most.

Meanwhile, the third ODI is an important contest as both teams are fighting to win the series. England, however, have shown no signs of slowing down and are aiming to post a massive total, with the 390-run mark well within sight.

At the time of writing, Joe Root is on 73*, while Jos Buttler is providing excellent support with 35*. With both batters looking in complete control, England appears well on course for a commanding first-innings total.
