Abhishek Sharma shot himself to global prominence with his explosive 54-ball 135 against England in Mumbai last year. The blistering opener also won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award after India’s Asia Cup 2025 win, and starred in a series win in Australia.

Unfortunately for the Indian cricket team, young Abhishek lost his groove just a couple of weeks in the lead-up to the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The left-hander was dismissed for two ducks in the final four T20Is of India’s home series against New Zealand last month.

Moreover, even at the ongoing showpiece event in India and Sri Lanka, the cricketer has failed to notch up a single run, registering three ducks in successive innings.
