Fans troll Sanju Samson during IND vs IRE 1st T20I [Source: X]
In the first T20I between India and Ireland held at Belfast on June 26, opener Sanju Samson was dismissed cheaply while chasing 183 runs. Fans lashed out at him on social media and demanded the inclusion of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
India had won the toss and opted to bowl first. The bowlers did well in the powerplay to chip 3 wickets at 25 runs before Lorcan Tucker (50) and Gareth Dleany (49) stitched a 64-run partnership.

However, India’s chase began on a sloppy note as opener Sanju Samson was dismissed cheaply. Debutant Jai Moondra, hailing from Rajasthan, bowled a good-length ball outside off stump to Samson.
Moondra’s delivery was moving away from Samson, and the batter tried to play a forceful shot towards the off side. However, the opener played with hard hands and got a thick inside edge, which crashed into his stumps.
With that, Sanju Samson walked back on just 5 runs scored off 4 balls. Interestingly, Samson turned out to be Moondra’s maiden international wicket as he roared in delight.
For Ireland, the opening wicket of a dangerous batter like Samson was the ideal momentum they were looking for.

Fans slam Samson for failure
Meanwhile, Indian fans on social media were completely unhappy with Sanju Samson. They lashed out at him for choking and giving wickets away unnecessarily.
Not only that, many fans demanded his sacking and urged the management to replace Samson with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the next T20I.
Interestingly, Sooryavanshi was expected to debut in this game. But the team thought the 15-year-old needed more time to be groomed. Hence, he will be held back despite getting his maiden call-up.
However, with Sanju Samson wasting his opportunities, the situation has become ideal for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to grab a chance in the near future.
Abhishek Sharma comes to India’s rescue
Having said that, despite losing Sanju Samson, India didn’t let the momentum slip in the chase. Opener Abhishek Sharma unleashed his inner beast to slam a quick half-century off 19 balls.
He hammered 21 runs off Liam McCarthy’s third over and later attacked Matthew Hollard as well. However, Ishan Kishan couldn't support Abhishek from the other end as Hollard dismissed him on just 1 off 5 balls.

Kishan also marked Hollard’s maiden international wicket as Ireland’s debutants were on absolute fire. Also, captain Shreyas Iyer failed yet again as he walked back on 3 off 7 balls.
India still have a steep target to chase, but with Abhishek on the crease, the visitors will back themselves. Also, India has a deep batting lineup, as batters like Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel are yet to come in.
