Ten days ago, David Miller refused a single to Kuldeep Yadav to tie Delhi Capitals’ clash against the Gujarat Titans and eventually failed to take his team over the line despite a berserk 41*(20). A lot of questions were raised about his game awareness, and the South African left-hander was brutally trolled for not finishing off the game.

However, the bona fide finisher took only one match to turn the hate into plaudits with his blistering knock against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Chinnaswamy Stadium to take his team through from a precarious position.

The Internet, which was after him with the memes and slanders, suddenly turned its head and took notice of another classy finish from the batter and celebrated his redemption. As DC break into the top-4 on the points table.

Fans applaud Miller’s redemption vs RCB

Upon winning the toss in the afternoon match of the day, RCB decided to bat first and got a rather underwhelming score of just 175/8 in 20 overs, despite a good start. However, a triple-wicket new ball spell from Bhuvneshwar Kumar pulled RCB right back into the contest, as the Capitals found themselves 18/3 in 2.5 overs.

Subsequently, KL Rahul, Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel added crucial runs to the chase, but the match was still on, with 42 needed from 25 when Miller walked in for the injured Axar Patel. The equation got to 37, needed from 18, as Miller got his eyes in.

Ahead of Romario Shepherd’s final over, 15 were still required, which is when David Miller got into his vintage avatar, which everyone saw during the GT fixture and tonked back-to-back sixes on 19.3 and 19.4, including a classy shot over the extra over before finishing off the match with a four and 1 ball left.

As Miller finally got his team past the finish line, people on social media lost their cool and praised his brilliant 22*(10) and celebrated his redemption.

Miller rolls back the years in IPL 2026

Over the years, David Miller has been among the most prominent overseas stars in the IPL, with his exhilarating approach in the middle order. He initially made a mark with the PBKS (then KXIP), with 418 runs at 164.56 in 2013 and 446 runs at 149.16 in 2014 — unprecedented strike rates, before eventually lifting his first trophy in 2022 with GT, scoring 481 at 142.72.

However, following an underwhelming IPL 2025 with LSG, he was released into the auction and bought by the Capitals for the base price of 2 crores in IPL 2026.

As a base price pick, he has lit the stage on fire in the early days of the competition, scoring 101 runs in 4 innings at a strike rate of 162.90. He has already taken his IPL career to nearly 3200 runs at a high impact strike rate of 139.26 with a hundred and 13 fifties.

DC looks to build on a good start to IPL 2026

Having played 6 matches in IPL 2026, DC, who had kept their core intact, are placed fourth on the points table with 6 points to their name.

Last season, they failed to qualify for the playoffs despite winning the first five in a row. This is where Miller’s experience will come in handy for Axar Patel and co. to maintain the winning momentum throughout the season.

Up next, they will face SRH on April 21 in Hyderabad, where they could further climb up the table after a couple of close losses in Delhi and Chennai.
